Commercial Kitchen Maintenance
Preventative maintenance saves money. But it requires you to manage a dozen or more technicians and inspectors. Scheduling. Invoicing. Record Keeping. With a few swipes on your phone, Boh (Back of House) handles everything and gives you access to the organized information you need. Your entire kitchen, in your pocket. And you even get paid for used fryer oil.

The Real Thing
“We were really impressed by the range of ideas that the Boundary design team brought to us in the first round. From the initial round of concepts, we got to see their vision for each in a realistic setting. Safe to say, they made it a tough choice.”
Bruce Melgar
Founder & CEO, Boh

Everything and the kitchen sink.

Boh needed an identity that conveyed ease of use and trust in a space that is usually managed old technology and grubby technicians. We created a bold monogram inspired by connection and the literal idea of the pipes in a kitchen.
ICON & COLOR PALETTE
We started with a suite of colors from the cool side of the color wheel to be familiar within tech, then pumped up their vibrancy to create new energy. For typefaces, we used Google’s Days One for headlines to add bold, playful character.

Focus on the food, chef

Based on what we’d learned in research, we knew the person responsible for overseeing kitchen maintenance also wore a lot of other hats. That's why we designed the app to show a intuitive status of their health inspection checkup.

We made upcoming and in-progress tasks clear as day on the home screen with icons and colors, then delivered small, fun moments when progress was made.
We found ways to surprise and delight the user while using the app. When a maintenance request was scheduled or completed, the restaurant admin would receive a micro-celebratory message to let him know of the progress.
